ABOUT ENSIGN COMMERCIAL
Due to constant and increasing demand for commercial vessels such as ships, barges, ferries, trawlers and other business-attached commercial vessels, Ensign has created a separate division that specializes in the sales and sourcing of vessels for businesses from parasailing and whale watching to seismic research ships.
Ensign strives to be the best, most informed and regarded brokerage in the world. In doing so, it is vital that we do more than just list and market boats for sale. Ensign has people who understand the product we sell - people who have operated and run commercial vessels. We have a number of qualified commercial skippers on staff who have driven tankers and operated barges in many challenging environments, from evacuations to building resorts in remote locations. Experience is abound in the team regarding large ships and the fishing industry. A fully-qualified and experienced business REIQ-approved broker also operates to ensure we can sell and advise on the purchase and sale of entire marine businesses, such as tourist operations, houseboat fleets, river cruises and the like.
We have priced a number of Barges and Tugs that we have as standard and that indicate the value of our vessels, but we can also price the vessel to your specifications. Ensign staff are available to assist you with the design and specifications of your vessel. With the Design and Naval Architect virtually in-house, we can get a price back for your vessel within a very short time.
The vessel is being built at worldclass facilities and by efficient tradesmen that makes for minimum build time. Components used in the contruction are similar or the same as the ones used in Australia, making for easy repair or replacement. All equipment and components have been installed and carry global warranty by the manufacturers.

Tony has become a partner in the business after taking over from his father who recently retired. His extensive experience in a management role has well equipped him for his transition from the corporate workplace in Sydney as the MD of a major telecommunications company to the Managing Director of one of the coasts leading brokerages. A passionate sailor and owner of many sizes and styles of vessel, he was involved in the process of completing construction of a 50' schooner. This process involved numerous local trades and has resulted in a truly magnificent yacht called "CAROLINA". Tony's experience in marketing and technology will ensure that Ensign is kept at the forefront of the marine Industry. With a vision to see Ensign Ship Brokers become a leading force marine brokerage in sales, but more importantly an example for customer service. The launch of the ENSIGN 50 was a key project to which Tony spent much of his time. This vessel set new standards in quality and value for money and the after sales service that Ensign provides is the main difference between competing products.
Peter Moloney, Gold Coast born and the "Old Salt" of the crew, gained early boating experience crewing charter boats in the Mediterranean in the seventies. After selling his business in 1980, Peter and some friends bought a 42' Chapelle Gaff Schooner and sailed it to Rhode Island for the successful Australian Americas Cup Challenge in 1983 as a prelude to cruising the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Caribbean and adjoining areas for the next four years. After returning to Australia and with a couple of businesses behind him, Peter joined Ensign as a boat broker and along with the present co- owner, Tony's father, Jim, bought the long established business. Peter's cruising knowledge and experience is available to any potential customers, and he finds great personal satisfaction finding the right boat to suit the buyer, be it power, house or sail.
Having worked in the marine industry since 1992, Andy Howden is a qualified marine skipper and engineer. Andy has spent the past sixteen years working in Australia, the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. Originally trained in the technical and customer service aspects of the industry, Andy has always been involved in nautical pursuits himself. He is a keen sailor, rescue diver and tournament fisherman.
Andy can understand your boating needs and desires. As a director of Ensign Sydney and the importer of Bavaria boats since 2002, he is committed to giving you a new level of customer service! Andy represents true versatility as he deals with power boats, catamarans, yachts and houseboats. Whatever vessel you are after, Andy can be the man to help you find it.
Peter Nicholson joined the Ensign Team early 2010. He has been actively involved in the marine industry for the past six years marketing Australian built vessels to Australian and international clients. He has successfully managed the production and sales of a number of different Australian brand vessels into China, New Zealand, USA and The Middle East.
In recent years has owned sport cruisers on the Gold Coast, however, prior to moving into powerboats, he owned a number of offshore racing yachts that he and his crew campaigned seriously on the East Coast of Australia during the 1980s and 90s commencing with a 25ft JOG yacht graduating to a 42ft IOR/IMS fractional rigged performance ocean racing yacht. Peter has also raced internationally in Europe and the USA, being chosen to crew on Gretel 11 during the 1970 and 1977 America’s Cup Challenges in Newport, Rhode Island. He continued to sail Gretel 11 until 1983 when he helmed the boat at the ‘Advance Australia Challenge Series’ in Melbourne against Australia 11 and Challenge 12.
Peter has sailed in ten Sydney Hobart Yacht Races, twice skippering his own boat. He holds an Offshore/Inshore Skippers certificate with the Australia Yachting Federation, and he has also cruised the East Coast of the USA and the Caribbean. Having been a passionate racing yachtsman and in 1996 he was invited to change pace and navigate Stefans pink class one offshore powerboat in the Australian New Zealand series of that year. Certainly a change of pace! He was also involved with junior sail training introducing young people into boating and racing during the 1980s. He continues to be passionate about all forms of boating and the marine industry in general and enjoys assisting those interested in purchasing or selling their boat.
